Too cool for skis? Master the snowboard. The best snowboarding in the world can be truly exhilarating - and liberating, if all you have been used to is marked runs. Snowboarding is more flexible than skiing, with a greater range of challenges from tricks to speed to terrain - and there are always new places to go with it and new moves to master.

Snowboarding is still a new-ish sport (it started in the 60s and 70s) so snowboarders are still pushing the parameters of what you can do on snow with a cross between a giant skate board and a stunted surfboard.
